Leigh Woods

Cloaking the Avon Gorge, Leigh Woods is a familiar sight for residents and visitors to Bristol. Just two miles from the city centre, it provides a magnificent backdrop to the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Today Leigh Woods is cared for by the National Trust and the Forestry Commission. In partnership they manage the site for conservation, recreation, archaeological and historic interest and access.

Being a partnership between the NT and FC, we designed x4 interpretation panels located throughout the site which reflected both organisations utilising their brand guidelines. New mapping was created enabling visitors to navigate their way through the woods successfully whilst ensuring that they saw all the key features via 3 waymarked routes.

A new dual-branded onsite DL leaflet folding out to an A3 map was created for both the National Trust and Forestry Commission in partnership with Natural England. The colour of the leaflet is a Forestry Commission green and the design style is National Trust combining the two brands together. A large format version is available to download as a pdf.

Installed within a fallen wooden tree trunk, you can still see the ramparts of an Iron Age Fort which this interpretation is specifically designed for. The tree trunk was chosen so that a printed panel would fit naturally within it's surroundings has proved extremely successful.
